Juvenile fiction and fantasy writer, Meg Welch Dendler, had a specific vision in mind when it came time to design the book covers for her “Cats in the Mirror” series. She wanted to market to the elementary school-age market with a combination of photographic and bold graphic elements and colors, achieving a collage style. Using actual photos of her cats, I incorporated background design, repeating graphic patterns and other photographic elements to help capture the imaginations of young readers.
