My client, a gifted fiber artist, wanted a smart and stylish logo to represent her new line of handmade knit goods. She lives and works in Portland, Maine and draws a ton of inspiration from the fresh salty, sea air as well as the creative, independent spirit of the city itself. I designed her logo to incorporate a textural layer of knit wool with a graphic rendering of the Portland skyline and a bright red seagull in flight. When it came to the logo name itself, I wanted to showcase a modern, sophisticated style for “Urban” followed by a more homegrown, funky style for “Knitfits”. The resulting look merged a hip, urban sensibility with a definite nod toward a homemade, creative product.
