I must confess: Invitations and stationery are among my favorite pieces to design. I just love how they can perfectly capture a person’s style or personality in simple details, fonts and colors.

This summer I was commissioned to create a custom invitation for a special birthday celebration. In honor of her Grandmother’s 90th birthday, my client wanted to personalize the invitation by including several key details held dear to her Grandma: watercolor painting, the foothills of rural upstate New York, and Canadian Geese. In order to complete the look for this invitation, I ended up painting the geese separately from the landscape painting and layering them on in Photoshop. This allowed us to place the geese in the best place while giving us flexibility in the text placement.
